Childcare Grant Scheme 2011/12

The University offers a Childcare Grant Scheme from the Access to Learning Fund to eligible part-time undergraduate students using registered or approved childcare provision.

  • The Grant offers a contribution to childcare costs and is not intended to cover actual costs incurred. 
  • It is paid only during study time (holiday periods are not covered).

Who is eligible to apply in 2011/12

  • Undergraduate, part-time students studying at least 50% of a full time equivalent course or at least 25% if you have a disability that affects your studies.
  • Students must be entitled to receive the maximum fee support for their course and course grant support available through Student Finance England.
  • The student must be the main carer and Child(ren) are under the age of 15 (or 17 if the child(ren) have registered special needs).

Who is eligible to apply in 2012/13

From 2012/13 funding for part-time students will change. New eligible part-time students can apply for a government loan to cover their tuition fees for higher education courses starting from September 2012. It is not yet known how this will affect the Childcare Grant Scheme. However details will be published as soon as they become available.

How will payment be made

The University will liaise with the Childcare Provider and make payments directly to them.
