What is Disability Services?
The Service provides advice, information and guidance to:
- disabled students
- students with mental illness or mental health difficulties
- students with a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) such as dyslexia.
Disability Services is made up of:
Disability Support Team (DST)
The DST provides information, advice and guidance to students on learning support.
We can talk to you about how your disability or condition impacts upon your ability to learn effectively and participate in your studies.
Our services are available to current students and to those of you who are joining us soon to study. We also can give information to you if you are thinking of studying at Sunderland.
Get in touch with us if you'd like to talk about the services we offer, or if you'd like to make an appointment to speak to an Adviser.

NERAC provides a one-off professional assessment of a student's learning support needs. Students participate fully in the assessment and, with a professional Assessor, look at the best possible combination of learning support, including assistive technology.
A NERAC assessment is available to all higher education students who are eligible for Disabled Students Allowance. Contact NERAC for more information.
