The Student Christian Movement (SCM)
The Student Christian Movement aims to be like Jesus: inclusive, aware, radical and challenging.
It has concerns that are world-wide, such as the campaigns for Justice in World Trade, the Justice Campaign, and Christians in prison world-wide, and has links with Tradecraft, Christian Aid and Movement for Christian Democracy.
Members take part in petitions, concern for asylem seekers in Sunderland, homelessness and all the things and people with whom Jesus was concerned.
Find out more at the Student Christian Movement website.
The Christian Union Society
They are a group of Christian students who build each other up and reach out on campus with the Good News of Jesus. They also hold occasional one-off events for those who want to know more about the Christian faith.
The Islamic Society
The aim of Sunderland's Islamic Society is to educate both Muslims and non-Muslims about Islam - its true meaning and message. In an age where "Islamic Fundamentalism" is on the rise, many people believe that Islam is about the killing of innocent people, chopping off hands and the oppression of women. The Islamic Society is here to dispel these myths.
Other cultural societies
There are other cultural societies within the Students' Union with some members of particular faith traditions. For more information on societies, consult the Students' Union website.
