Interviews

How can the Careers & Employability Service help you prepare?

For all final year students or students applying for paid projects or placements;

  • Attend a 'Shine at Interviews' workshop.  These are designed to help you understand what to expect at interview, how to prepare well and an opportunity to practice your answers to typical questions.  Sessions for final year students of any subject will be available in term 2. Please visit our News and Events section of our website for dates.  Workshops can also be arranged specifically for your programme, contact your programme leader who can arrange this.
  • Book an appointment with the Interview Coach who will:
    Help you anticipate questions, practice your answers and give advice on how to improve.  You will need to provide information on the job or types of job you are applying for at least 2 days prior to your appointment to allow the coach to prepare appropriate questions.

For all current students

  • Book the Interactive software package 'The Interviewer', record your answers to typical questions and review your responses against the Interviewers suggested answers.

The Interviewer welcome page [screen shot] The Interviewer - an interactive software package - gives you the chance to see your reactions and answers to real life interview questions. You can practice your answers to interview questions, record your answers with the webcam, see yourself as the interviewer sees you and get tips on answering questions from 'Hints' and 'Interviewers Angle'.
